Vista Taos Renewal Center in New Mexico Is Now Home of the “Orange Button”

Taos, NM – Vista Taos Renewal Center, New Mexico’s renowned addiction treatment center, is proud to announce that Eric T. Button, PRSS, has joined our team as a Family Support/Referral Specialist. Vista Taos Executive Director, Jeffrey LaMure, shared his excitement about Vista’s new hire, stating “Ask anyone, anywhere in the substance abuse treatment field about the ‘orange button’ and immediately they know exactly who and what you’re talking about and a huge smile covers their face.”

In an understandably furrowed-brow industry marked by daily interactions with people facing very serious problems and dire consequences, Button stands out like a beacon of hope. In spite of the solemnity of his chosen occupation, he manages to embody an endearingly playful, oversized elfish quality and can often be seen wearing outrageous orange attire, sporting the hashtag: #OrangeYouGrateful? Button has artfully branded himself within the addiction treatment industry by creating an association with his larger-than-life image, his heartfelt passion for helping others, and his fun-loving persona to the color orange and his iconic dinner-plate sized orange button.

Button is well-known all over the country, but even more to the point he is well-loved, bringing a sense of joy, inspiration, and hope to all those he meets. Button has assisted scores of clients and family members to access addiction recovery services since 2006. His professional background in the substance abuse treatment industry is extensive and is marked by his passion for helping others find the help they deserve in overcoming addiction.

When asked what drives him, Button reveals that his intense passion for helping people is rooted in his own experience with addiction and his potentially life-changing brush with the law. He jokes heartily about his stint in a long-term addiction treatment facility saying that, “In 2005, the State of Texas thought it might be a good idea for me to be behind bars but I’m grateful to report that the long-term treatment facility that I was sent to instead of prison has translated to long-term recovery and an amazing life like I never imagined I could ever have.” Because of his profound sense of spiritual responsibility, Button says that he works daily to enlarge his connection to a Power Greater than himself and that today he sees himself as “a conduit to the power of freedom from addiction”.

LaMure sums it up saying, “Eric Button’s personal qualities and extensive professional experience tell us that he is well-aligned with Vista Taos Renewal Center’s values and ethics. We’re honored to have him as a part of our team and we welcome his passion and focus in helping to advance the Vista Taos mission into the future as well as expanding our reach into new communities where our help is needed.”
