Iranian Musician Mohammad Razi Blends Traditional Instruments with Electronic Sounds in “The Persian Trap”
Tehran – February 11, 2019 – Iranian composer and music genius Mohammad Razi has gained popularity for his first album, “The Persian Trap”, released on December 24, 2014. The album is unique in bringing together the exquisite and immortal oriental sounds of old Persian instruments such as the Santour and Setar, and integrating them with modern electronic music.
‘The Persian Trap’ is the first attempt of its kind to regale the musical senses by combining ancient sounds with new electronic music. The album comprises seven songs: “Sargije”, “Godal”, “Hal’lal”, “Persian Trap”, “Kavir”, “Sabz-e-siah”, and “Razz-E”.
His latest solo album, “Lost at Night”, has also been released in April 2018. The album uses analogue sound and comprises two songs, ‘Lost’ and ‘Night’.
A composer, electronic music producer and sound designer, Mohammed Razi produces creative music in genres such as hip-hop, electronic, noise and drone. Born in Iran, he took to underground music and the hip-hop scene in the country as a producer. His work lay mainly in integrating Persian traditional instruments with electronic and hip-hop.
Post the release of “The Persian Trap”, Mohammed Razi has launched a Bachelor’s course in electronic music as well as a degree course in classical music. Mohammed Razi is actively engaged with social and political issues of society, and hopes to use his music and artistic skills to promote a healthy and non-violent world.
