Drink That Could End Hangovers Forever Will Be Here In Time For Christmas
A first-of-its-kind drink that promises to sober you up in an hour and prevent hangovers will launch in time for Christmas.
Safety Shot, made in collaboration with a Florida-based doctor, claims to be the ‘first patented beverage on Earth’ that quells hangovers by slashing blood alcohol content in half in just 30 minutes.
This, the wellness firm behind it says, dramatically reduces feelings of intoxication – including lack of focus and slow movement, as well as hangovers.
And according to the latest press release published by the company, the beverage will be available to buy on its website and Amazon as of the first week of December.
It is not yet entirely clear what exactly the drink contains, although its website lists vitamins and nootropics – compounds that improve cognitive focus.
The drink, which is consumed as soon as you finish a boozy session, is said to help speed up the breakdown of alcohol in the blood, while forming a protective shield around the stomach wall, limiting the amount that is absorbed.
This in turn is said to limit alcohol’s impact on the central nervous system, which becomes depressed when liquor enters the body by binding to neurotransmitters that inhibit communication. This is what leads to slowed brain activity, resulting in poor cognition, difficulty with balance, and speech issues.
According to the brand’s website, Safety Shot restarts the central nervous system’s activity, allowing you to think more clearly.
The product’s ‘extensive mineral and ingredient combination’ is said to reduce dehydration.
A study of the product published last month evaluated volunteers who were served alcohol for one hour and then asked to stop.
Participants’s blood alcohol content was measured using a breathalyzer, and they were then asked to drink six ounces of Safety Shot.
The researchers found that participants who drank Safety Shot saw their blood sugar reduce seven times quicker than a control group.
Dr Glynn Wilson, chief scientific safety officer of Safety Shot, said: ‘The results of this volunteer study clearly demonstrate that Safety Shot reduces blood alcohol content at a statistically significant level and did so at a much faster rate than the rate of people who did not drink Safety Shot.’
However, the researchers also stated that the study was small, but another higher-quality trial is underway.
The company also plans to develop a more concentrated, prescription version of the formula to be used as a detox product for alcohol poisoning.
